Engaging with Members! by Diane Cooper CEO

I am listening to what members have to say - it is vital for me to know what members need and want from their national membership body.

Having passed the 100-day mark in my role, I can honestly say that members have been so engaging and welcoming to me. I have been out and about speaking at Institutes and Federations across Scotland. I am listening to what members have to say - it is vital for me to know what members need and want from their national membership body.

As a large collective of women in Scotland, we have an opportunity to shape the future and ensure we are a valuable asset with a rich history and attractive for 21st-century women. It is important that all members have a say in what this may look like. We have made a start with a draft strategy which has been approved by the Board and will go out for member consultation along with a survey in April/May.

I want to reach as many members as possible, so we have plans for members to participate in the consultation through various communication channels such as discussions at institutes meetings, online events with polls, online links and written communications.

Many members have reached out to me offering key skills and professional experience to assist with the new vision for the organisation, for which I am extremely grateful. Members will have the opportunity to participate and contribute to various working groups that will be established after the summer.

In the meantime, the Board, staff, and committees are all aligned and look forward to welcoming members' feedback on the membership consultation and survey.

We aim to feedback initial highlights from the consultation at the AGM on 28th May, please book your place here: https://bit.ly/3v76Rw9

The new-look AGM will involve a membership panel of speakers who will share and showcase initiatives that makes them strong and successful within their local communities, it’s important that we learn from each other.

As we cautiously start to plan a calendar of national events, we will monitor numbers with the aim of making sure we have enough bookings to make any event financially viable. If you are interested in attending any event, please have look at our event diary here: https://www.theswi.org.uk/our-main-events/

Thank you for all your support.
