Most of us like to get creative in the kitchen over the festive season, and for our Christmas baking competition we’re delighted to team up with Hamlyns of Scotland to find your favourite Christmas biscuits.

Christmas is a great time to spice up your recipes with warming spices like ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and cardamom. It’s also the ideal opportunity to have fun with fancy cutters and put your decorating skills to use with icing, sprinkles and other toppings.

Why not try experimenting by adding a splash of your favourite tipple or some Christmas fruits to your recipe. Of course, with Hamlyns sponsoring the competition, it would be great if some of them could incorporate oats too!

 How to enter

Send your recipe and a photograph to Handcrafts & Homeskills Events Co-ordinator, before Monday 15 November.

Email or post to Christmas biscuit competition, The SWI, 42 Heriot Row, Edinburgh, EH3 6ES.

The recipes will be judged by Hamlyns of Scotland, and the winners will be announced on Monday 29 November.

The prizes Four winners will receive a Hamlyns Perfect Porridge Pack, which includes limited edition china breakfast bowls and mugs, and an apron and a tea towels, all designed by Scottish designer, Gillian Kyle, along with a hand-carved wooden spurtle and a range of Hamlyns’ porridge oats and oatmeals.
