SWI Junior Dippers funding

The SWI national body is delighted to announce that we have secured an additional £1,000 in funding from Sylvia Aitken Charitable Trust for SWI Junior Dippers projects across Scotland. This funding supports our mission to pass on valuable skills and encourage the growth of SWI Junior members.

We now invite applications for up to £300 from Federations and Institutes across the country. Whether you already run a Junior Dippers group and looking to develop it or do something special or are keen to start a new one, we want to hear from you!

This grant is available to members dedicated to nurturing the next generation of SWI Junior members. The SWI Board strongly encourages projects that inspire children and young people to become Junior members of the organisation.

Here are some ideas of how the grant could be used:

• Bringing children and young people together to learn new skills, particularly in crafting, cooking, and baking activities.
• Raising awareness of the SWI Junior Dippers programme through an open day or digital advertising to promote learning and skill-sharing in your local community.
• Providing opportunities for SWI members to share their much-valued skills with children and young people.

We are excited to hear your ideas!

Any Institute or Federation can apply, but please submit applications through your local Federation. This will help us track applications effectively and allow Federations to gauge demand in their area.

You can apply for up to £300 per Federation or Institute. Depending on demand and uptake, the Board retains the authority to amend any details and criteria.

We are eager to hear about your plans to build creativity in your community, raise awareness of SWI Junior Dippers, encourage new Junior members, and promote inter-generational activities.

HOW TO APPLY

Tell us in 500 words how you plan to use the grant, including:

• The location, frequency, and reach of your planned activity.
• How many members and potential SWI Junior members could be involved.
• A breakdown of the costs.
• How you plan to promote the project, including launch dates, events, and sessions.
• How SWI members will contribute their skills to your project.
• How you plan to ensure your activities have a lasting impact.

 NOTES

• The deadline for applications is 3rd March 2025.
• Applications will be assessed by SWI’s Board of Trustees on 27th March 2025.
• Successful applicants will be notified via email during the week commencing 1st April 2025.
• Grants will be paid to Federations for distribution to the successful recipients.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

• Funding is only available to registered SWI members.
• Federations and Institutes can apply (max one application per Federation area).
• Junior Dippers groups must be operating with registered SWI Junior members or those working towards becoming SWI Junior members.
• All SWI members must adhere to SWI’s Children and Young People Safeguarding Policy HERE.
• The deadline for applications is 3rd March 2025
