New groups show appetite for the SWI

This spring, the SWI will celebrate the launch of five new groups across Scotland, highlighting a renewed appetite for community, connection, and traditional skills among women.

New groups in Biggar, Dumbarton, Paisley, Dunfermline/Rosyth, and Stonehaven will offer fresh opportunities for women of all ages to connect, learn, and grow. These launches form part of SWI’s wider strategy to meet its 2025–26 goals by expanding membership and promoting intergenerational engagement.

"These new groups are a vital step in preserving traditional skills, empowering women, and strengthening local communities," said a spokesperson for SWI. "We’re seeing great enthusiasm from women keen to get together, share experiences, and learn from one another."

Recent launch events in Winchburgh and Fort William proved popular, with attendees already discussing plans for regular monthly meetups.

Each event is open to all women and offers a welcoming space to find friendship, support, and shared interests. If you have ideas for where a new group could launch, SWI encourages you to get in touch.
