SWI secures funding to preserve our heritage

The SWI is celebrating a major boost for its Preserving Our Past heritage project, with a £5,000 donation from The AEB Charitable Trust. The funding will support efforts to safeguard and share the SWI’s remarkable history, which spans over a century of women’s contributions to rural life since 1917.

This latest funding complements previous support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund and brings the SWI closer to its vision of creating a dedicated Visitor Learning Centre at The Crichton Estate in Dumfries. The project includes cataloguing, archiving, and digitising the SWI’s nationally significant collection to make it more accessible to members and the wider public.

The initiative reflects the SWI’s commitment to celebrating its legacy while creating new learning opportunities for future generations.

To get involved or learn more about The Crichton Opportunity, members are invited to join the online SWI Heritage Group.
