The SWI in East Lothian
To complement all the national SWI events, workshops and classes on offer, each region in Scotland has its own local SWI organising team, known as a Federation, to look after the groups in its area. They offer women across the region opportunities to meet neighbouring members for day trips, outings and events, take part in regional shows, and enter fun competitions.
East Lothian Federation is the home of the SWI, as the first Institute was formed in Longniddry back in 1917 by Catherine Blair – and still meets to this day! Nowadays, members in this Federation are proud to uphold traditions whilst branching out to offer all new kinds of fun and learning.
