Event spotlight: SWI scone workshop

On Tuesday, 25th February, we hosted a successful 1-day baking workshop at the Station House Cookery School, Kirkudbright. The event attracted a diverse group of participants eager to learn the art of baking perfect scones, from fruit to cheese varieties.
The workshop was led by Linda McTurk, a passionate SWI member and Board Trustee, who provided expert guidance and shared valuable tips throughout the day. Participants enjoyed a hands-on experience, participating in a demonstration and bake-along, which fostered a friendly and supportive atmosphere.
Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing increased confidence in their baking skills and appreciation for the accessible, step-by-step instruction. Several participants mentioned they would try baking scones at home, inspired by the techniques learned.
Overall, the event successfully achieved its goal of providing a fun, educational, and social experience for women of all skill levels.
We look forward to planning similar workshops in the future, continuing to promote lifelong learning and enjoyment of baking among our members.
