On Wednesday 29 July 2026, Beacon CRM, the company that provides SWI’s membership database, became aware that they may have experienced a cyber-security incident. They notified us of this on Monday 3 August 2026.

Beacon CRM has confirmed that someone gained unauthorised access to its systems and that some information may have been copied. As SWI uses Beacon CRM, this may include member details such as names, addresses, email addresses and telephone numbers.

Importantly, we do not hold members’ bank account or payment card details in Beacon CRM.

As soon as we were informed, we followed our data breach procedures and carried out a full risk assessment. We have assessed the potential risk to members as medium, and at present we have no evidence that any SWI member information has been misused.

Beacon CRM has confirmed that the security issue has been fixed, passwords and security credentials have been reset, and additional 24-hour security monitoring is now in place. There is no evidence of any continuing unauthorised access.

Do I need to do anything?

No specific action is required. As a sensible precaution, please be alert to unexpected emails, calls or messages asking for personal information or asking you to click on unfamiliar links.

We know members trust us with their information and we take that responsibility seriously. We will continue to monitor the situation and will update members if there is anything further you need to know.
